FOLLOW THE LEC'S TOP TIPS!
TIP #1: TEXT TO SPEECH
The computer reads to you. wUsing Google Chrome - Natural Reader: reads aloud from Google Chrome, PDFs, textbooks, etc.
1. Click here for the Natural Reader Chrome Extension link 2. Click on ‘Add to Chrome’ 3. Click on ‘Add extension’ 4. Natural Reader (‘N’) is now ready to read to you 5. Open a web page, PDF or Jacaranda Plus text books and press the ‘N’ (top right hand of your screen) Using Microsoft Edge Activate text to speech by following these steps: 1. Open any page in Edge 2. Click on the three horizontal dots (very top righthand corner). It says 'Setting and More'. 3. Toggle down to Read Aloud 4. You can then select the text you want to read to you and press 'play'. Note: the voice and speed can be changed by selecting 'Voice Options' (top right) Tip #2: text to speech

TIP #3: predictive spelling choices

- * Type ‘Word’ into search bar but don’t enter, instead select ‘Settings’ at top of pop up box
- * Select ‘Typing' from side menu
- * Add features you want such as predictive text, autocorrect spelling choices, etc.
- * Predictive text will ‘pop up’ as word suggestions on screen.
TIP #4: DICTATION (SPEECH TO TEXT)
Windows Speech Recognition allows you to dictate text instead of typing on a keyboard.
You can do this for sentences or whole paragraphs. you can also use dictation when you are having trouble spelling a word.
Speak clearly and don't rush!

1. Click on the Windows Logo symbol
2. Type Speech Recognition into the search box
3. Complete the set up Speech Recognition Tutorial
4. Turn on 'Dictation' in Word
After this process a speech recognition toolbar will appear on the screen.
This speech recognition tool can be used across a range of programs e.g. Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other programs in Microsoft Office.

TIP #5: declutter the internet

1. Download the free DOM Distiller extension by clicking here.
2. Three purple dots will appear on the top right hand of your screen.
3. Whenever you are on a website, click the dots and see what happens! Click the dots again to return to the original webpage.
Extra tip: You can click Ctrl A (select all); Ctrl C (copy) and Ctrl P (paste) to paste this website into a Word document.
Remember to also save the URL.
